Snook

Snook have been landed weighing over thirty pounds but the average catch is generally between eight and twenty pounds in Florida Bay. The snook is a predator evolved to ambush its prey. The large mouth and broad tail allow the fish to rest motionless and wait to pounce on prey wandering into its range of attack. This feeding method allows anglers to catch snook with several different methods including streamer and top water flies, topwater and diving lures, live bait and buctails. One needs to be ready for quick bursts of speed and occasional headshaking jumps. Florida bag limits for snook is only one per angler per day so we release nearly every fish except trophies. The table fare is excellent no matter how it is cooked as long as the fish is filleted and skinned.
